Children’s Programme

While engaging with children Ankur has resisted tendencies that view them in terms of what they lack. We have sought to build on the innate knowledge of the child, drawing upon their neighborhoods as a learning resource. Ankur is a co-traveller in many journeys of storytelling, traversing practices of reflection, narration and imaginings.The program provides contexts for the children to explore and demonstrate their inherent and growing potential.

Learning Collective (6-10 years)
an open space for young children
Learning collective celebrates the spirit of wonder, curiosity, spontaneity and self-creation in young children. A philosophy of care, invitation and nurturing animates the way these spaces are re-designed and re-imagined. Here children meet with other children, and together create learning experiences. Club (10-14 years)
celebration of story telling
Children are brimming with stories, ever eager to tell them. The club strives to affirm their world, their life experiences – their stories. It gives children the space to value play and freedom from the routines of school and home. Here they give expression to their creative energy and explore facets of their lives and neighborhoods, as interlocutors and researchers. The club plays an important role in revitalizing the intellectual life of the neighbourhood. Read more

Library (10-14 years)
a space for active reading
Children are eager to access new narratives, ideas and knowledge, beyond textbooks. The library is conceived as a lively space that nurtures a community of children who are active readers, creative writers and passionate discussants. The focus is on sharing of experiences, knowledge building and creative thinking. It’s a space where minds evolve and examine, discern, appreciate and participate in the world of books. Read more
